Why do we get goosebumps when it's cold ?

When you suddenly enter a cold place or hit a cold wind, will your arms get lumpy?

That's goosebumps.

Originally, goosebumps is a mechanism that warms the body so that heat does not escape from the body when it is cold.

The muscles at the base of the hair are tightened, and the hair stands out.

Unfortunately, humans have less hair, so even if we get goose bumps, heat can escape frome the body.

Not only when it's cold, but also when you feel anxiety or danger, you get goose bumps in an attempt to protect your body.

The face has weak muscles and thin hair, so it is difficult to get goose bumps.

Why Car navigation can know where we are?

When we drive, car navigation know where we are.

If we set our destination, it guides us and tells us estimated arrival time.

Why can it do that? it can see where we are now by continuing to receive electrical signals from artificial satellites called GPS(Global Positioning System/Satellite).

Approximately 30 artificial satellites are orbiting the earth, and the sensor of the car receives the information sent from 3 to 4 artificial satellites among them and determines the current position.

The car navigation shows several routes and estimated arrival times, and selects the most suitable route.
If it gets the information on traffic jams or traffic regulations while the car is running, the route may change.
VICS(Vehicle Information and Communication System) provides traffic information and other information.
Car navigation with VICS functions can avoid traffic jams by relying on information.

Why eggs have yolk and white ?

We usually use chicken's eggs for cooking.

Eggs have various structure to make chick's body and protect chick's life until hatching.

If you look closely at the yolk, you will see a white spot called an embryo.

embryo is the important part that will be chick.

yolk is wrapped in the yolk membrane and gives nutrients to embryo.

Egg white wraps yolk like a cushion to protect it.

Egg white keeps moisture and gives nutrients to embryo too.

Egg white is wrapped in the eggshell membrane, the outermost part is covered with eggshell.

Chalaza connects eggshell membrane and yolk, has elasticity like rubber.

Chalaza fixes yolk in the center to soften the impact from the outside.

Let's check the process to make chick's body.

Female chicken has ovary, ovaries have many small grains that is resource to be yolk.

the grain grows, and become yolk in ovary, then the yolk advances to the fallopian tubes one by one every day.

In the fallopian tubes, in order, egg white, chalaza, eggshell membrane, and finally the eggshell are made, and it will be born about 25 hours later.

Next, let's take a look at the process of chicks being born.

When the hen begins to warm the egg, the embryo changes into various organs such as nerves, brain, and internal organs.

Embryos take in nutrients from yolks and grow steadily, and when they are warmed for about 16 days, their feathers begin to align.
A chick is born about 21 days after the hen begins to warm the egg.

How do vending machines distinguish the kind of bills and coins ?

When we buy beverages at a vending machine, we never say "I will insert 100JPY(Japanese Yen) coin".

How do vending machines distinguish the kind of bills and coins ?

Actually, inside vending machines there are machineries that can distinguish the kind of bills and coins.

In the case of coins, their sensor checks materials, diameter, thickness, weight.

Each JPY coins have differnt materials, diameter, thickness, weight, so their sensor can distinguish it easily.

What is more, their sensor also has the function to check whether the coin is fake or not.

If the coin is fake, vending machine return the coin.

In the case of coins, similarly the sensor check the horizontal length of bills.

All JPY bills have same vertical length. but each of them have different horizontal length.

To distihnguish whether the bill is fake or not, JPY bills have various devices.

When they are exposed to light, their color changes. And they have a watermark.

What is the human body made of ?

For example, What is the hamberger made of ?

We can answer that is made of bread and hamberg and vegetable.

Then, What is the hamberg made of ?

That's made of meat, onion, egg, salt, pepper... We can state more details.

When we think about what nutrients does it contain ? We can say it contains protein, carbohydrates, fat.

Like I write above, There are various answer for the question "What is the human body made of ?"

The human body is made of muscles, bones, internal organs, skin, blood, etc.

The source of all human body conponents is cell, cell is the smallest part in the human body. It's said adult human body have 60 trillion cells.

Furthermore, let's think about the human body's material.

70% of the human body is water, the rest is protein, fat, etc.

If these are further decomposed, 96% of the human body is 4 elements(oxygen, carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen). The rest is mineral(calcium, phosphorus, iron, copper, etc).

the human body hardly have minerals. but if we don't have minerals, we can't live.
